Bordalás: “We always face our matches wanting to win them. We are excited and want to give a good showing against Real Madrid”
Our coach José Bordalás has spoken in a press conference ahead of Real Madrid-Valencia CF.
Thierry Correia has been working separately from the team. Will he be fit for the game against Real Madrid?
Yes, he is perfectly fine. He has been out of action, and that is why he has been doing extra work, but he is in perfect condition for tomorrow.
Have LaLiga communicated to Valencia CF that you cannot sign with the current Financial Fair Play situation?
Not at all. Nothing like that has been communicated to Valencia CF, nor by Valencia CF to me. It's not like that.
How is Gabriel Paulista doing? Has he had an injury relapse?
He is working to get back with the team as soon as possible. I can't give you a specific date, but we are confident that he will be back with the team soon and that we can have him available as soon as possible.
Was your message the other day regarding signings and Financial Fair Play addressed to FC Barcelona, LaLiga or the club's majority shareholder?
I have nothing to say about that. It was misinterpreted and I am not going to say anything more about that matter. I already commented on it at the time, and each person can interpret it as they consider correct.
Would you like that message to reach Singapore?
It is not a message. I insist, it is an answer that I gave and I have nothing more to say about it.
Do you think that tomorrow's game is going to be very similar to the first game this season?
Every game is different. A few months have passed and these are always tough games, both at home and away. They have practically all of their squad available, whilst we have some players out. Beating the leader, one of the form teams in the league, is extremely difficult. We go there with enthusiasm, and always face our matches wanting to win them and to give a good showing. We always have the ambition to win.
Have the club promised to bring in signings in the winter transfer market?
We are working on it. We believe that the players who can help us in the second half of the season will arrive sooner rather than later.
To what extent does Carlos Soler's absence influence the preparation for the game against Real Madrid?
His absence, like that of any other player, is always a setback. He is an important player and we don't have him available. This is the collateral damage of the Copa del Rey, in which we have suffered injuries such as those for Foulquier and Soler, but this is not the time to lament that. We have to face the game with full confidence in our players, and we are sure we will have a great game.
Is there any news regarding departures in the transfer market? Is Manu Vallejo one of the candidates to leave?
I can't say anything about this. It's something that is being worked on. Manu Vallejo is part of our team; he has not had a leading role for a long time, but that is exclusively a tactical decision. There is a long way to go in the season and we will see if he can help us.
Is the label of Valencia CF as an aggressive team unfair?
You judge for yourself. I am clear about things. Very, very clear. Valencia CF are often naive, and lack experience depending on the moments. The trend, as you all know, is sometimes the simplest thing to do, which is to complain about things.
How long will Carlos Soler be out with his injury?
We are confident that it will be a short time. It is a small injury and we hope that he will recover in record time, because he is an important player for the team.
Has a scenario been considered in which no signings arrive in this winter transfer market?
No. I have not considered that. We are working on things and we all know that the team need some players to come in.
Has there been any progress in Gayà or Carlos Soler's contract renewals?
I know that the club are working on it. I imagine that we are all calm because in the end an agreement will be reached. It is not an issue that concerns us right now. We are focused on the day-to-day work in competition and we are calm.
What do you think about the Madrid media focusing on the referee for the game?
I do not think about other people's opinions and previews. In the world of football and journalism, these things are nothing new. I'm not surprised. Sometimes you try to exert some kind of pressure, and it has happened a few times. Everybody complains. I am not concerned at all. He is a great referee. In Spain, in addition to having a great league, we also have magnificent referees and it is not an issue that worries me at all.
